  General Notes:

Edwin vs. Edward. There has been some controversy over Edwin's first name.
My Great-Uncle Russell Schleicher in his memoirs called Edward - Edwin. This could be due to mixing up Edwin Peter and Edward Schleicher (or maybe I copied it wrong), according to Meril Schleicher Gooding she saw him listed as Edwin in a Census. According to Tom Schleicher he was listed as Edward on several Census' The 1850 Census lists him as Edwin and so does his tombstone. The 1880 census and 1900 census could be taken either way as the name is hard to read. On his estate probate it definatally calls him Edwin.


Buried in the New Cemetery Section II Ben Salem Church

In the History of Carbon County Edwin is listed as Edward and also his youngest son is listed as Ogden J. I have him as Austin J. it states that he married Julia St. Pierre and relocated to Connecticut. I believe this was contributed by James Schleicher his grandson.

Edwin married Mary Jane Gerber, daughter of Jeremiah Gerber and Susannah Ziegler, on 25 Dec 1871 in Rev E. A. Bauer.¹¹³ (Mary Jane Gerber was born on 19 Aug 1849 in West Penn Township, Schyulkill County, Pennsylvania, died on 14 Jul 1918 in Lehighton, Carbon Co., Pennsylvania and was buried in Ben Salem Church, East Penn Twp, Carbon Co, Pennsylvania ¹¹⁴.)
